Greetings RHS&GC and Renton Community Members,

We are thrilled to invite you to our 60thAnniversary & our Annual Membership Meeting! This spring, we aren't just gathering to socialize and look back on 60 years—we are welcoming you into our new permanent home.

Please join us for food, drinks, and celebration:

  • When: Sunday, May 31, 2026, at 2:00 PM

  • Where: RHS&GC Headquarters, 1025 S. 3rd St., Downtown Renton(The 3-story brick building across from the Renton History Museum, formerly the RAYS building)

  • Parking: There are a number of parking spots in the lot behind the brick building that are available for RHS parking. The old City Hall parking lot between Houser Way and Mill Avenue is also available. Street parking along 3rd is also a short walk to the new building.

Tour the New Space: Come early at 1:30 PM for a pre-meeting tour, or stay afterward to explore the building with our board members and volunteers.

A Year of TransformationSince our last meeting in June 2025, it has been a whirlwind of progress. Following our move from the Renton History Museum to our interim space at the Renton Technical College Annex—coordinated by former Interim Director Elizabeth Flanagan and Hansen Brothers Moving—our board and volunteers have achieved incredible milestones:

  • New Leadership: Welcomed our "miracle worker" Office Manager, Jennifer Douwes.

  • In-House Communications: Designed and released two print newsletters, bringing production entirely in-house.

  • Community Events: Hosted First Lego League “New Dimension” Team, a Holiday Open House, a Historical Writing series, and a Historical Tea Party.

  • Organizational Growth: Fully revised our bylaws and policies to better serve our mission.

  • A Permanent Home: Purchased our new building in the heart of downtown Renton to house our collection and community.

Looking AheadOur goals for the coming year are even more ambitious:

  • Settling In: Completing building improvements funded by grant programs.

  • Big Celebrations: Partnering with the City to celebrate America250 and Renton’s 125th Birthday.

  • Education & Growth: Hosting more classes and hiring a student intern from the University of Washington.

  • Community Connection: Engaging with more volunteers and neighbors than ever before.

We can’t wait to celebrate these milestones with you. See you on May 31st!

Warmly,

Renton Historical Society & Genealogy Center, Board of Directors
