Volunteering with RHS
A wealth of opportunity, tailored to your interests.
Volunteer Opportunities
As an RHS volunteer, there is no limit to the impact you can have on your local community.
By donating just a few hours over the course of the year, you can help us create inclusive, accessible spaces where all members of the Renton community can connect with their history and with each other.
Our dedicated staff are available to meet with you in-person or over zoom to learn more about your interests, your availability, and discuss the opportunities open now. We’re focused on creating meaningful experiences that fit your needs, so if you have an idea of ways you can help that aren’t mentioned below, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Opportunities available now:
Host member events - Our annual meeting takes place in June of each year, and offers the membership the opportunity to vote on leadership, development planning, and the use of funds. We also host a fall fundraiser, and plan to offer at least one additional event each year to celebrate our volunteers and staff who make our work possible. Join us as a facilitator and enjoy all the benefits of attendance while getting a sneak peak behind the scenes.
Host public event booths - Renton River Days and the Renton Farmers Markets are just two examples of the types of public outreach event booths we hope to host in 2025. We need volunteers to help staff the booths, including running games and educating the public about our mission, endowment and future plans. You’ll be provided with refreshments and comfortable seating, as well as shift schedules that allow you to get out of the booth and enjoy yourself.
Join our Board of Directors - When full, our board of directors is made up of twelve volunteers who have committed to attending one board meeting per month either in person at our ReadySpaces location, or remotely via zoom. We currently have room for six additional members. Meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month from 5:30pm to 7:30pm and dinner is provided. This leadership team votes on critical issues with the needs of the general membership in mind, and represents the organization in all settings as a recognized authority of Renton history. Everyone is welcome to apply, there are no specific qualifications outside a love of history and an appreciation for the value of public service.
