Volunteering with RHS
A wealth of opportunity, tailored to your interests.
Volunteer Opportunities
As an RHS volunteer, there is no limit to the impact you can have on your local community.
By donating just a few hours over the course of the year, you can help us create inclusive, accessible spaces where all members of the Renton community can connect with their history and with each other.
Our dedicated staff are available to meet with you in-person or over zoom to learn more about your interests, your availability, and discuss the opportunities open now. We’re focused on creating meaningful experiences that fit your needs, so if you have an idea of ways you can help that aren’t mentioned below, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Opportunities available now:
Handy person - While we gear up for the next step in our journey, we need handy people who can fix all the things! Stay tuned for more information!
Help move traveling exhibits - We are creating new and exciting traveling exhibits to take around town for extended visits.
-
Assist our team by using your truck or large van to transport exhibits to and from locations.
-
And/or assist us by doing the heavy lifting--safely, of course. Enjoy a sneak peak of what it takes to create traveling exhibits.
Help around the office - We are actively organizing our new rented space, where we moved last summer. There are so many general office tasks that could use your gentle touch. Enjoy a sneak peak of what it takes to manage artifacts. Bring your organization skills and help us get ready for the next step in our journey.
Computer help & data entry - We are updating databases regularly. Do you love a good spreadsheet and enjoy entering detailed information? Do we have a task for you! Enjoy a sneak peek of what it takes to manage artifacts. Bring your organization skills and help us grow!
Help with member & public events - Renton River Days and the Renton Farmers Markets are just two examples of the types of public outreach event booths we hope to host in 2026, including hosting events for Renton's 125th birthday and America 250. We need volunteers to help staff booths, including running games and educating the public about our mission, endowment, and plans. You’ll be provided with refreshments and comfortable seating, as well as shift schedules that allow you to get out of the booth and enjoy yourself.
Join our Board of Directors - When full, our board of directors consists of twelve volunteers who have committed to attending one board meeting per month, either in person at our RTC Annex location or remotely via Zoom. We currently have room for five additional members. Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. This leadership team votes on critical issues with the needs of the general membership in mind, and represents the organization in all settings as a recognized authority of Renton history. Everyone is welcome to apply; there are no specific qualifications outside a love of history and an appreciation for the value of public service.
Interested? Fill out the form below. Please allow five business days for our staff to get in touch.
