Endowment
The organization is the beneficiary of an endowment valued at $5,932,527.15 as of January 1st, 2025.
This endowment is made up of three accounts managed by Shane Klingenstein of Edward Jones. The endowment is invested in the market, and so may change in value as the market changes.
It is best practice to use approximately 4% of the total endowment annually as an operational budget, so as to ensure longevity of the funds. In 2025, 4% of the endowment is approximately $240,000.
Annual Budget
At the beginning of each year, the board of directors creates an annual budget based on the 4% expected return on the endowment, projected income from donations and licensing fees, and secured grants. The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the allocation of funds to meet RHS's contractual obligations including utilities, rent, subscriptions and other services.

Licensing
RHS charges licensing and use fees for artifact reproductions in order to generate revenue that is reinvested into the care of the artifacts.

Grants
We were awarded grant funding by 4Culture that will be used to help bring the remote digital collection to fruition. RHS leadership is actively seeking additional grants at the local, state and federal level.
